Hemidesmosomes

The hemidesmosomes "rivet" cells to the basal lamina.

 

The hemidesmosome.  Integrins and BPAG2 are transmembranous proteins connecting the extracellular matrix to the intermediate filaments (red lines) and the IFs to the actinmicrofilaments via plectin homo-dimers (purple).
