Spectraplakins

Page updated 12/10/02

A superfamily of very large proteins whose members bind all three components of the cytoskeleton (actin, tubulin and intermediate filaments). Spectraplakins (Roper et al, 2002), include BPAG1, MACF1 and short stop, they share in common from the N-terminus two CH domains, a plakin domain, a series of plectin repeats, numerous spectrin repeats and finally a GAS2 domain.
