Membrane Rafts & The Cytoskeleton

Singer's famous "Fluid Mosaic" model (Singer, 19) of the biological membrane was very nearly 100% correct with two minor corrections.  One was that he had hypothesized the existence of proteins that crossed half way through the lipid bilayer (Figure 1), the other was that  lipid components are far from randomly and evenly distributed as his paper suggested.
